Prof. José Tiran Saucedo

Infectious Disease Gynaecologist, Mexico

Professor José Tiran Saucedo is Director of the Mexican Institute of Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Monterrey, Mexico. He graduated from Tecnologico de Monterrey University, specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology, and gained a fellowship in infectious diseases in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Women’s Hospital of Texas, Houston, USA. Prof. Tiran is a fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, recertified by the Mexican Board of Obstetrics and Gynaecologists. He is also a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the ACOG District VII Reference Committee. In May 2016, Prof. Tiran received the “2016 Mentor award” by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. His primary interest is in the research fields of infectious diseases, immunisations and contraception. He has been an author on multiple publications, including book chapters.

Prof. Yvette León

Gynaecologist, Mexico

Professor Yvette León studied medicine at the University of Monterrey, Mexico. She completed the Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program at Christus Muguerza Hospital, University of Monterrey. Prof. León is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ACOG) and is certified by the Mexican Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is currently the incoming District VII Mexico Section Secretary- Treasurer (ACOG) and the Research Investigation Coordinator at the Mexican Institute of Infectious Diseases in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Monterrey, Mexico. She is also a faculty professor of the University of Monterrey medical school since 2016 and has been an author of multiple publications, including book chapters.

Prof. Gernot Bonkat

Urologist, Switzerland

Professor Gernot Bonkat studied medicine at the Universities of Munich and Würzburg, Germany. He completed his urology residency at the University Hospital Basel, Switzerland. In 2014, he was appointed as associate professor of urology at the University of Basel. Since 2016 he worked as head physician at the alta uro AG in Basel. Prof. Bonkat is an active member of various urological societies including the European Association of Urology, EAU Section of Infections in Urology, the Endourological society and the German association of Urology. He is strongly committed to research with a special focus on new and rapid diagnostics in UTIs and urogenital tuberculosis. In 2012, he worked as associate researcher at the Department of Urology, Tygerberg Hospital, Cape Town, South Africa. In 2015, he was appointed as chairman of the EAU Guideline panel on Urological Infections. Prof. Bonkat is the author of more than 150 articles, book chapters and congress abstracts.

Prof. Kurt G. Naber

Professor Kurt Naber is an associate professor of urology at the Technical University of Munich School of Medicine. He was chairman of the European Association of Urology (EAU) Working Group of Guidelines on Urological Infections and he was chairman, and is still an associated board member, of the European Section of Infection in Urology (ESIU) affiliated to the EAU. He is the author of more than 700 scientific articles and textbooks and serves on the editorial board of several journals. He is a member of numerous societies, including the German (DGU), European (EAU) and American (AUA) Urological Associations, the PEG, the European Society for Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and the International Society of Infectious Diseases. His research interests include urological infections, especially clinical studies including the microbiology and pharmacokinetics of antimicrobials for the treatment of UTI and prostatitis.

Prof. Florian ME. Wagenlehner

Prof. Florian ME. Wagenlehner

Urologist, Germany

Professor Florian Wagenlehner is a full professor of the Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany and Director of the Clinic of Urology, Paediatric Urology and Andrology at Justus-Liebig-University. He is chair of the working groups urogenital infections of the Germany Association of Urology, the German guideline group on urinary tract infections, the European Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU) of the European Association of Urology (EAU), and the commission of Urinary Tract Infections of the International Society of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy (ISAC). He has authored more than 300 journal publications, several of which relate to the management of urinary tract infections. His research efforts have earned him grants from the German, the Austrian and the Hessian Research Foundation, the “Deutsches Zentrum für Infektionsforschung” and study support from the European Association of Urology Research Foundation.

Urologist, Canada

Professor Curtis Nickel’s clinical expertise and research covers inflammatory, infectious, pain and other benign diseases of the urinary tract. He is director of the Urological Chronic Pain and Urinary Tract Infection Clinical Research Clinics in Kingston. He has over 600 publications, is on the editorial board of 6 urology journals, editor of the AUA Update Series and Microbiome and Urologic Infections (Grand Rounds in Urology), presented in over 45 countries, funded by US NIH and Canadian CRC (CIHR). He was president of the Canadian Urological Association in 2017. He was awarded a CIHR Tier I Canada Research Chair (concurrent), AUA Distinguished Contribution Award and AUA Latimer Medal, SIU Academy Award, and was the first recipient of the SIU Mostafa Elhilali Award for contributions to International Urology Research.

Professor Flavia Rossi holds a degree in medicine and a PhD. She is currently the microbiology laboratory director at the Hospital das Clinicas da Faculdade de Medicina de São Paulo in Brazil. Prof. Rossi is an advisor for the WHO- AGISAR Group and PAHO-Technical Antimicrobial Group. Prof. Rossi’s research focuses on the clinical relevance and value of microbiology data, current microbiological surveillance systems and telemedicine.

Prof. Enrique Ubertazzi

Prof. Enrique Ubertazzi

Gynecologist, specialising in Uro-gynecology, Argentina

Professor Enrique Ubertazzi specialises in gynaecology and obstetrics and now devotes his time to urogynaecology. He is head of the urogynaecology section at Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. He is the founder and current president of the AUGA (Asociacion Uroginecológica Argentina) and was a representative of LATAM and Caribbean in the International Board of the IUGA between 2012-2014. Prof. Enrique Ubertazzi also serves as associate professor of gynaecology at the University Institute of Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires and as an adscript teacher of gynaecology at the University of Buenos Aires. He is an honorary member of SMUG (Sociedad Mexicana de Uroginecología). Recently he was co-author of the first LATAM guidelines for recurrent urinary tract infections.

Professor Agnaldo Lopes da Silva Filho is president of the Brazilian Association of Gynecology and Obstetrics (Febrasgo). He is a full professor of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Faculty of Medicine, Federal University of Minas Gerais and post-graduate gynecology professor at Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho. Having graduated in medicine at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1995), he then went on to complete specialist training in general surgery and trauma (1996-1998), obstetrics and gynecology (1999-2000), a PhD in gynecology, obstetrics and mastology at Universidade Estadual Paulista Julio de Mesquita Filho (2004) and a post-doctorate in biomechanics at University of Porto - Portugal (2007-2009). Prof. Lopes da Silva Filho is distinguished with more than 60 medical and scientific awards, as well as being the project leader and participant in several Brazilian and European research projects. Additionally, he is the author or co-author of more than 100 full papers in periodicals indexed by ISI Web of Knowledge or MEDLINE.

Prof. Tamara S. Perepanova

Prof. Tamara S. Perepanova

Urologist, Russia

Professor Tamara Perepanova qualified as paediatrist at the 2nd Medical State Institute in Moscow in 1976 and went on to successfully defend her PhD at the same institute. She is currently the Head of Department of UTI and Clinical Pharmacology at the N. Lopatkin Scientific Research Institute of Urology and Interventional Radiology. Following her graduation, she gained further post-graduate training in the fields of clinical pharmacology, urology and antibiotic therapy. Prof. Perepanova has played a key role in several clinical trials and has published almost 300 scientific papers. In addition to her research, she is currently a board member of the European Section of Infections in Urology of the European Urological Association, and the Chair of both the Moscow Society of Urologists and the Rational Pharmacotherapy in Urology organisation.

Dr Bela Köves PhD

Urologist, Hungary

Dr Bela Köves is the deputy head of the Department of Urology, South Pest Teaching Hospital, Budapest, Hungary. He wrote his doctoral thesis about the pathogen host interactions of the urinary tract. He is co-chair of the European Association of Urology Section of Infections in Urology (ESIU) and a member of the EAU Guideline panel on Urological infections. His main area of research are prevention and treatment of urinary tract infections and clinical microbiology of urological infections.

Prof. Tommaso Cai

Prof. Tommaso Cai

Urologist, Italy

Professor Tommaso Cai graduated with a degree in medicine from the University of Florence, Italy, in 2002, where he subsequently completed his specialisation in urology. In 2010 he was appointed a consultant urologist at the Department of Urology, Santa Chiara Hospital, Trento, Italy. In 2013 he became a member of the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Andrology and chairman of the society’s Study Group on Urological Infections. He was appointed associate professor of urology (ASN – Italy) in 2014, and in 2015 became a member of the European Association of Urology’s guideline board on urological infections. Prof. Cai is the author of more than 200 publications on issues relating to prostate and bladder cancer, urinary tract infections, sexually transmitted diseases, and the use of novel technologies.
